Jose Fonte has been impressed by the way Alvaro Morata has settled into life at Chelsea this season
Jose Fonte has heaped praise on Alvaro Morata for proving his critics wrong since his transfer to Chelsea from Real Madrid in the summer.
The Spanish striker signed for the west London side from Real Madrid in July after the Blues had been heavily linked with a move to land Romelu Lukaku from Everton.
The Belgian forward ended up signing for Manchester United and Chelsea then moved quickly to land Morata from Spanish side Real Madrid.
There had been some doubts about how well Morata would be able to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League following his move to England.
However, he has proved his doubters wrong by producing a string of impressive displays since his move, scoring nine goals and making four assists in his first 15 Premier League games.
And West Ham star Fonte has been very impressed by how Morata has settled into life in the Premier League since his move.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Sunday, Fonte said: “People weren’t too sure when he came and he’s proven everyone wrong.
“His movement, his pace, his ability in the air… I think he’s done very, very well.”
Morata will be hoping to help Chelsea return to winning ways on Tuesday night when the Blues travel to Huddersfield Town in the top flight.
Chelsea won the Premier League title in style in Conte’s first campaign at the club last season.
