Tiemoue Bakayoko is determined to try and help Chelsea retain their Premier League title this season.

The French midfielder has been getting used to life in England following his summer transfer to Stamford Bridge from Monaco.

Bakayoko will be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the first team this season after Antonio Conte opted to allow Nemanja Matic to leave Stamford Bridge and sign for Manchester United back in July.

Chelsea were the Premier League’s most consistent team last season as they won the title in style in Conte’s first campaign in charge at the club.

But they face a fight on their hands to defend their title this term, with both Manchester clubs looking strong and Chelsea having to contend with Champions League football this season.

However, Bakayoko feels confident that Chelsea do have what it takes to defend their title this term and lift the trophy for the third time in four years.

Speaking to Chelsea’s website, Bakayoko said: “If we are performing well away from home it’s because of the intensity and desire he demands, those are the ingredients we take into every game and because of that we are top of our group in the Champions League and going well in the Premier League.

“Our mentality is that we’re going to win the Premier League again, and we’re going to give everything to achieve that.”

Chelsea return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with a home clash against Roma at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have won both of their opening European games this term – with victories over Qarabag and Atletico Madrid.
