Club confirm Chelsea bid as Blues try to make 26-year-old their first signing – report
Chelsea have failed with a bid to sign Alex Sandro from Juventus this summer, the Italian club have confirmed
Chelsea have made a big-money bid to try and sign Alex Sandro from Juventus this summer, the Italian club’s general director has confirmed.
The Blues have been linked with a host of different players over the last few days but the west London side are still to confirm the arrival of any new signings.
Juventus left-back Sandro has been touted as a target for the west London side as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his defensive options at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Now, the Italian club have confirmed that Chelsea are officially interested in signing the 26-year-old – but that Juve are keen to keep hold of the Brazilian.
Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta told Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by Sky Sports: “Our desire is to not sell any of our most important players.
“We said no to a very good offer from Chelsea for Alex Sandro.
“But we know that we are competing with clubs that are in a position to offer wages that are not rational for us. And players are always their own boss.
“I do not know how Alex Sandro reacted.”
Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as the Blues prepare for a return to the Champions League next season.
The west London side won the Premier League title last term but had a reduced fixture list because of not competing in Europe.
Chelsea were beaten 2-1 by bitter rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup final last month.
