Willian earned the praise of Chelsea boss Antonio Conte after his fine display in the Blues’ 2-1 League Cup victory over Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
The Brazilian attacker was restored to the starting line-up and set the Blues on their way to victory when he tapped home Cesc Fabregas’ cross at the far post for the west London side.
Dan Gosling equalised for the home side late on as the game looked to be heading towards extra-time, but Alvaro Morata ended up scoring a winner for the west London side just moments later to send Chelsea through to the last four.
Willian has been in and out of the Chelsea team this season but he has been in good form whenever called upon and has scored two goals and made two assists in his last three appearances.
And Conte has been delighted by the attacker’s form, as well as Pedro’s display on Wednesday night.
Speaking at his post-match news conference at Stamford Bridge, Conte said: “I’m happy for him [Willian] because he played a game with great commitment.
“Don’t forget that for him and Pedro this was the third game in a row. I’m very happy for their performances.”
Chelsea will now turn their attentions towards preparing for their Premier League clash against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime.
The west London side are currently third in the table and 14 points behind runaway leaders Manchester City.
