Ex-midfielder reacts to Cesc Fabregas’ display in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Southampton
Pat Nevin was clearly impressed by Cesc Fabregas' performance or Chelsea in their 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday

Pat Nevin heaped praise on Cesc Fabregas for making an “instant impact” when he came off the bench in Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Spanish midfielder started the game on the bench for Antonio Conte’s men but came on in the 68th minute at Stamford Bridge when he replaced his fellow Spaniard Pedro Rodriguez.
Marcos Alonso gave Chelsea the lead on the stroke of half-time when he scored a low-struck free-kick.
Fabregas, 30, has been in fine form for Chelsea this season and has been earning plenty of praise for his performances for the west London side.
And former Chelsea winger Nevin was clearly impressed by what he saw from the Spain international as he came on for the final half-hour on Saturday.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live during their coverage of the game, Nevin said: “Cesc Fabregas has come on, and he’s almost made an instant impact.
“How much sharper does Chelsea’s midfield look now?”
Fabregas has been in top form Chelsea so far this season after having established himself as a more regular fixture in the first team at Stamford Bridge.
The former Arsenal captain had initially struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge in Antonio Conte’s first season at the club.
