Antonio Conte has been urged to make a move to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid by former defender Danny Higginbotham.
The Blues have been linked with a number of attacking players this summer but the west London side are yet to bring in a proven striker.
Romelu Lukaku was one name to have been regularly touted as a target for the Blues as Conte gears up for his second season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
However, widespread reports in the British media last week claimed that Lukaku was on the verge of signing for Manchester United ahead of the Blues.
But former defender Higginbotham doesn’t necessarily think that’s bad news for Chelsea, as he feels that Real Madrid forward Morata, 24, would be much better suited to the Blues’ style of play under Conte.
Writing in his column for the Sun, Higginbotham said: “Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata is more of a like-for-like replacement for Diego Costa and would suit Chelsea’s style much more than Lukaku.”
Chelsea won the Premier League title in Conte’s first campaign at the club last season but came up short in the FA Cup final, when they were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal back in May at Wembley.
The west London side will make a return to the Champions League next season after their title triumph last term.
