Arsenal aren’t interested in signing David Luiz from defending Premier League champions Chelsea, according to Sky Sports News reporter Aidan Magee.

The Brazil international has been out-of-favour at Stamford Bridge over the past few months after falling behind Danish centre-half Andreas Christensen in the pecking order.

Luiz hasn’t featured in a Premier League game since a 1-0 loss to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on 28 October to raise questions about his long-term future.

Manchester United were initially linked with a move to sign the South American given Jose Mourinho’s past working relationship with the ex-Paris Saint German defender.

Arsenal have also been named as a potential destination for Luiz should the 30-year-old secure a Janaury move following a frustrating spell at the west London club.

Sky Sports News reporter Magee claimed that the Gunners won’t sign the South American centre-half in the January transfer window.

“It’s been suggested in numerous outlets that the defender David Luiz could move to The Emirates in this window but Arsene Wenger has said simply that the reports of the Brazilian international are not true,” Magee told Sky Sports News.

Luiz is an experienced defender having won the Champions League, the Europa League and the Premier League during two decorated spells at Chelsea.

The Blues signed six players in the summer transfer window, including AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger to provide more competition for places.

Chelsea won the Premier League title with two games to spare.
