Chelsea warned Eden Hazard could complete world record move to Real Madrid
Tony Cottee hints that Chelsea could sell Eden Hazard to Real Madrid for a world record fee in the summer
Tony Cottee believes Chelsea forward Eden Hazard could move to Real Madrid in the summer in a deal easily worth £150m or more.
The Belgium international has been regularly linked with a move to the La Liga giants over the past three or four seasons.
Hazard has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League since his move to Chelsea from Lille in 2012.
The 26-year-old has fired Chelsea to Premier League title glory in 2015 and 2017 under Jose Mourinho and then Antonio Conte.
Hazard scored 30 goals in their title-winning campaigns and won the PFA player of the year award in April 2015.
The defending Premier League champions are in negotiations with Hazard over a new long-term deal to secure the attacker’s future.
Hazard has 18 months remaining on his current deal but Chelsea are eager to resolve the number 10’s contract situation.
However, former West Ham striker Cottee has claimed that Hazard could move to the Champions League holders in the summer transfer window.
“I think Hazard could move to Real Madrid this summer,” Cottee told sportingbet.
“Hazard is a joy to watch and he’s in fantastic form, but if Real Madrid come up with the money then I think he will leave. You’d be looking for at least £150m for Hazard, he might even break the fee paid for Neymar.”
Hazard has scored six times and has made four assists in 21 appearances in the Premier League this season.
The Blues are in fourth place in the Premier League table but level on points with Liverpool FC in third spot.
