Jamie Carragher tells Chelsea to make this signing before deadline
Jamie Carragher says Chelsea need reinforcements at wing-back before the transfer window closes on Thursday night
Jamie Carragher believes that Chelsea need reinforcements at wing-back before the transfer window closes on Thursday night.
The Blues made it back to back wins in the Premier League on Sunday when they secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge to bounce back from their shock opening-weekend defeat by Burnley in west London.
Chelsea have been linked with a whole host of players throughout the summer transfer window but have so far only concluded deals to bring in Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakyoko and Alvaro Morata.
Morata netted his second goal of the season against the Toffees to add to Cesc Fabregas’ first-half strike at Stamford Bridge.
Attentions will now be focused on Chelsea and the potential new signings they could make before the transfer window closes on Thursday night.
And Liverpool legend Carragher feels that the west London side are in need of new players at wing-back to be able to compete in four competitions this season.
Asked who Chelsea need to sign before the deadline, Carragher told Sky Sports: “I think they’re still short at wing-back going forwards in terms of European football.
“They certainly need two or three new players.”
Chelsea are preparing for a return to the Champions League next month after they won the Premier League title in Antonio Conte’s first season at the club last term.
