Insider claims Chelsea boss Antonio Conte big fan of 24-year-old Germany star
The Chelsea boss is a huge admirer of AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, according to ESPN reporter David Amoyal
Antonio Conte is a big admirer of Germany and Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, according to David Amoyal.
The Premier League champions are thought to be interested in signing the Germany international in the 2017 summer transfer window as Conte looks to recruit a centre-half.
According to reports in Italy, Chelsea are ready to pay €38m for the 24-year-old defender, which would involve an initial €30m fee plus a further €5m in add-ons.
The Blues have been left frustrated in the summer transfer window so far after failing to complete any deals despite being linked with a host of players.
Chelsea were thought to be interested in Juventus centre-half Leonardo Bonucci and Southampton star Virgil van Dijk in the current transfer window.
However, ESPN reporter Amoyal has revealed that Chelsea boss Conte is a big admirer of the AS Roma star.
Amoyal wrote on Twitter: “As most people who watch Roma regularly, I rate Rudiger highly- versatile defender, recovered well from injury & Conte is a big fan of his.”
Chelsea won the Premier League title in their first season under Conte after the west London club finished seven points clear of Tottenham Hotspur.
