Gabriele Marcotti reveals Chelsea confident of signing top targets
The Serie A expert is confident Antonio Conte will patch up his differences with Chelsea this summer
Chelsea are confident of keeping Antonio Conte happy and landing their manager’s top transfer targets, according to Gabriele Marcotti.
Reports in Italy on Thursday evening suggested that the Italian coach and the Premier League champions could part company after a difficult summer transfer window so far.
Conte allegedly made the controversial decision to inform Diego Costa that the Spain international is no longer part of his plans over a text message.
In addition, Chelsea have struggled to get any deals over the line so far this summer despite being heavily linked with moves to sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Monaco midfelder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
However, Serie A expert Marcotti is confident that Chelsea and Conte will set aside their differences in the summer transfer window despite recent reports in Italy.
“It happened at Juventus. He was successful. He gets [anxious] in the summer over transfers and after his third year, he left,” Marcotti told ESPN FC.
“My understanding is Chelsea are pretty confident things will be patched up. Chelsea have asked him to be patient and they will get him who he wants.”
Chelsea won the Premier League title with two games to spare in their first season under Conte after the Italian took over the reins from Guus Hiddink last summer.
The Blues lost 2-1 to bitter rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley last month.
