Chelsea first made contact with top 28-year-old striker a month ago – report
Chelsea reached out to Robert Lewandowski's representatives a month ago about a potential deal, according to reports

Chelsea made contact with Robert Lewandowski’s representatives for the first time a month ago, according to reports in the English media.
Goal is reporting that the Premier League champions have been pursuing the Bayern Munich striker for over a month as Antonio Conte looks to add a proven striker to his ranks in the summer transfer window.
The same article states that the Blues would have to cough up a club-record fee for the Poland international which would eclipse Fernando Torres’ £50m transfer from Chelsea to Liverpool in 2011.
According to Goal, Lewandowski would have to put in a transfer request to force through a move to Chelsea as Bayern Munich are unwilling to sell the former Borussia Dortmund striker this summer.
Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been told by his manager that he can leave Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window after being deemed surplus to requirements at the west London club.
The Blues won the Premier League title in their first season under the management of Conte but lost 2-1 to bitter rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup final.
