Chelsea told sign prolific 23-year-old striker ahead of Romelu Lukaku
Jason Cundy wants Chelsea to sign Harry Kane ahead of Romelu Lukaku this summer
Chelsea should target Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane ahead of Everton forward Romelu Lukaku, according to Jason Cundy.
The Premier League champions have been heavily linked with a deal to re-sign the Belgium international in the summer transfer window less than 36 months after selling Lukaku to Everton in a permanent deal.
Chelsea are thought to be ready to sell Spain international Diego Costa despite the 28-year-old scoring 20 times in 35 games in Chelsea’s title-winning season under Antonio Conte.
Both Costa and Lukaku finished behind England international Kane in the race to the Premier League’s golden boot after the Tottenham star netted 29 times in the top flight last term.
Former Chelsea defender Cundy believes Kane is a far superior striker than Belgian star Lukaku – and the talkSPORT presenter wants to see the Blues target Kane this summer.
“If you are giving me the option to buy either one of those players, I’d take Kane every single day of the week over Lukaku,” Cundy told talkSPORT.
“I would rather Harry Kane over Cristiano Ronaldo too.
“All-round, the value he’s going to bring, because of what he can do, the player he’s going to turn into. I have faith in my judgment.
“Harry Kane is twice the player Lukaku is – based on my eyes, based on my knowledge, based on what I see.
“He’s twice the player, Kane is twice the player. Harry Kane is a better player, he can hold the ball up with his back to goal and Lukaku can’t.
“However you dress it up, the better player is Harry Kane.”
Chelsea lost 2-1 to Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley last month following goals from Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey at the home of English football.
The Blues signed five players in the summer transfer window last year.
