Willian sends message to Chelsea fans about his future after Man United link
Willian appears to indicate that he is planning to stay at Chelsea beyond the summer transfer window
Willian has once again indicated that he is planning to stay at Chelsea beyond the summer transfer window, despite the speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.
The Brazilian attacker struggled to hold down a regular spot in the Chelsea first team in the Premier League this season following Antonio Conte’s appointment last summer.
Indeed, the 28-year-old only started 15 games in the top flight but still managed a return of eight goals and two assists in the Premier League.
There have been reports linking Willian with a possible reunion with former manager Jose Mourinho at Manchester United this summer.
However, Willian appears to have poured cold water on those reports by saying that he is expecting to be at Stamford Bridge in August and that he is pleased with his contribution this season.
Willian told Chelsea’s website before the FA Cup final: “I’m happy because every time I’ve played I’ve scored a goal or helped the team in some way.
“Mainly I’m happy because we finished as champions. Of course, I had a difficult period earlier this season, which everybody knows about, but after that I’ve given my best for the team.”
He added: “In August I will have been here four years, I’ve already won the Premier League twice and the League Cup.”
Willian made 19 appearances for Chelsea from the bench in the Premier League this term.
