Chelsea are preparing a January transfer bid to sign Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen, say reports
Chelsea are lining up a £20m bid to try and sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey in the January transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the west London side are keen to land the 20-year-old after he was scouted by the Blues on three occasions already this season.
The same report claims that Chelsea have been keeping tabs on the Jamaica international for some time, and watched him on numerous occasions last season when he was at Genk.
The story also suggests that Chelsea are ready to do a deal to land him in the new year and then immediately loan him back to the German club until the end of the season, so he can complete his official move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
The same story also claims that Chelsea are facing competition from the likes of Barcelona for Bailey’s signature – but the Premier League outfit are believed to be leading the race for the 20-year-old.
Bailey has scored four goals and made four assists in 12 Bundesliga appearances for Bayer Leverkusen so far this season and is rated as one of the fastest players in the German league.
