Chelsea to submit official £60m bid to sign Premier League star – report
Chelsea are set to table a £60m bid to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk in the coming days

Chelsea are set to lodge a £60m bid to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk in the coming days, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Express is reporting that the Blues are set to make an offer to try and bring the centre-half to Stamford Bridge as Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his defensive options ahead of next season.
Van Dijk is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s top defenders and it was thought he would be heading to Liverpool this summer before that proposed transfer fell through earlier this month.
Now, the Daily Express is claiming that Chelsea are ready to make a move to try and sign Van Dijk, as Conte has identified the 25-year-old defender as the perfect man to strengthen his rearguard options.
However, the same report claims that Liverpool have reignited their interest in signing Van Dijk this summer in a move which could “complicate” Chelsea’s pursuit of the Netherlands star.
Chelsea are thought to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Conte prepares for his second season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
However, despite all of the media speculation, the Blues are yet to confirm the signing of any new players.
