Andy Gray feels that Cesc Fabregas would fit perfectly into Chelsea’s midfield should the Blues sign the playmaker this summer.

The west London club are understood to be leading the chase for the 27-year-old’s signature amid reports that Barcelona are willing to offload the former Arsenal captain.

He is made of the right stuff and he is a terrific footballer

Fabregas spent eight years at Emirates Stadium before sealing a return to his boyhood club in August 2011 – and Gray says that the Spaniard’s Premier League experience is invaluable.

“He has got the right pedigree, he is made of the right stuff and he is a terrific footballer,” Gray told talkSPORT. “He will fit in quite perfectly in that midfield area.

“He knows the Premier League. He is not one of these foreign players who is going to have to come in and maybe have a year, 18 months to settle into the place.

“He knows exactly what it is all about. He has played over 200, 300 games in this Premier League.

“If the move for Fabregas goes through and the Diego Costa deal goes through, it shows Chelsea are flexing their muscles a little bit and one or two people should be worried.”

Fabregas scored eight goals and made 13 assists in 36 La Liga games for Barcelona this season.
