Chelsea transfers: David Luiz says he would welcome Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney at Stamford Bridge

David Luiz says he would welcome Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney at Chelsea.
Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed on Sunday that the Red Devils have rejected a transfer request from the England striker as speculation continues over his future.
Rooney has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain after a disappointing season, but Luiz would have no issues with the Blues signing the striker.
“Everyone knows about his quality, so if he wants to come to Chelsea why not? I’d be happy with it,” said Luiz, according to the Sun.
Ferguson omitted Rooney from his United squad the 2-1 victory over Swansea City, and the outgoing United manager revealed the striker’s transfer demand after the game.
“I don’t think Wayne Rooney was keen to play as he has asked for a transfer,” Ferguson said.
“We are not going to let him go. I think he’s just frustrated at not playing as much as he’d like in the last couple of weeks.”
He added: “We have refused it. I think he should go away and think it over again. He wasn’t happy about being taken off a few times this season but a Wayne Rooney in top form wouldn’t be taken off.”
Rooney’s former Everton manager David Moyes is set to replace Ferguson and pen a six-year deal at United on 1 July.
