Jose Mourinho insisted Fernando Torres is part of his Chelsea plans after the Spanish striker scored the winner at Cardiff City.

The 30-year-old forward scored a 75th-minute winner after Andre Schurrle had cancelled out Craig Bellamy’s opener at Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday.

Yes he’s in my plans (for next season). He’s a good player

Torres has scored five goals and made five assists in 28 Premier League appearances this season despite Mourinho has chopping and changing his misfiring front-men.

The Chelsea manager has made no secret of his desire to sign a top striker in the summer, with Torres reported to be a makeweight in a deal for Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa.

However, the 51-year-old Blues boss reiterated that Torres has a role to play in his side after the former Liverpool man ended his season on a high.

“Yes he’s in my plans (for next season). He’s a good player. He’s not the kind of guy who will score goal after goal but the way he works and moves he contributes to the team. He’s a player I like,” Mourinho told BBC Sport.

Chelsea sealed third spot courtesy of their 2-1 win.
