Chelsea transfers: Jose Mourinho claims Chelsea have signed Mohamed Salah in an £11m deal from Basel

Jose Mourinho has declared that Chelsea have signed Mohamed Salah in an £11m deal from Basel.
Brendan Rodgers revealed Liverpool weren’t giving up hope of signing the Egyptian in his media conference following a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, despite the Blues agreeing a fee for the winger on Thursday.
With Juan Mata completing his £37.1m switch to Manchester United on Saturday night, Chelsea were widely expected to land Salah, with the 21-year-old expected to fill Mata’s place in Mourinho’s desired 22-man squad.
When asked whether the Salah transfer has been completed, Mourinho replied: “Yes.”
On Saturday, Reds manager Rodgers refused to give up hope of signing the Swiss league’s player of the season.
“The window is not closed yet so we haven’t given up on him, no,” Rodgers told BBC Sport.
He added: “Salah was a player we’re interested in and we hoped we could do a deal but as of yet there is nothing done on it.
“The club is still looking for players we can bring in to strengthen the squad.
“It is a difficult market in January so we’ll see what happens. If nothing comes in then the players I have have been outstanding for me this season and we’ll enter into the final part of it with confidence if we have the same group of players.”
