Chelsea transfers: Monaco complete the signing of Radamel Falcao from Atletico Madrid after weeks of speculaton

Monaco have backed Radamel Falcao to fire the newly-promoted side back to the top of Ligue 1 after the striker completed his much-anticipated move from Atletico Madrid on Friday.
The Colombia international has penned a five-year deal at the Ligue 2 winners, ending speculation linking him with a potential switch to Chelsea and Manchester United this summer.
Falcao has scored 32 goals in all competitions this season and will join his former Porto team-mates, Joao Moutinho, 26, and James Rodriguez, 21, who joined in a double £60m deal last week.
A Monaco statement read: “We are absolutely delighted that Radamel Falcao has accepted the challenge of coming to play for AS Monaco FC.
“We are proud to have secured one of the best players in the world and confident that he will help ASMFC regain its rightful status.
“The Colombian international striker has signed for five years.”
Meanwhile, Falcao posted on his Twitter account: “I’m eager to start this challenge! I count on your support!”
Falcao scored 70 goals in 90 appearances following his move to Atletico from Porto in 2011, and the Copa del Rey winners wished their talisman luck at Monaco.
“From Atletico Madrid we wish him luck in his new home and thank him for the great demonstration of professionalism that he has shown in the two seasons he played for our club,” read an Atletico statement.
