Chelsea transfers: Mourinho confirms plan to sign Rooney
Chelsea transfers: Jose Mourinho has confirmed that the Blues are planning a third bid for Wayne Rooney

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Chelsea are planning a third bid for Wayne Rooney – but insists the club will wait until after next week’s game against the Premier League champions.
The Blues have already had two bids for the 27-year-old striker turned down, with United insisting that the England international is not for sale.
But Mourinho, whose side moved top of the Premier League table on Wednesday thanks to a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa, has confirmed Chelsea’s interest in bringing Rooney to Stamford Bridge.
“We want to do something with Rooney,” said Mourinho, whose side face United at Old Trafford next Monday.
“But we will be ethical and not interfere with Manchester United by bidding on him before we play them next week – the board agrees with me on this.”
Mourinho’s latest comments come after the Portuguese coach insisted that the club have contingency plans in place should they fail to land the Manchester United forward.
“We have plans B and C,” he said. “Don’t ask me names. It’s difficult to speak about players from other clubs.
“We have the conditions to try to improve our team by bringing in one more player and we are going to try that till the end.”
