Jose Mourinho has poured cold water on speculation linking Chelsea with a move to sign Javier Zanetti from Inter Milan.

The 40-year-old Inter captain played under the Portuguese coach during his spell at the San Siro and helped the Serie A side win a famous Treble in 2010.

It is impossible to see [him] with another team that is not Inter

The Blues were linked with a bid for the veteran Argentina international in recent weeks, but Mourinho has rubbished the reports, insisting that Zanetti is set to see out his career in Italy.

“There was no offer for Zanetti,” Mourinho told Sky Sport Italia.

“It is impossible to see [him] with another team that is not Inter.”

Mourinho’s comments come after the player distanced himself from a move to Stamford Bridge.

“Honestly, I have a great relationship with Mourinho, we often talk, but we never talked about these things,” Zanetti said last week.

“I believe that Inter fans know what I feel about this shirt. I always said, to me, Inter is my life and that my desire is to stay here. Say no more.”
