Chelsea transfers: Rafael Benítez coy on January signings
Chelsea transfers: Rafael Benítez refuses to rule out further signings this month following arrival of Demba Ba

Rafael Benítez insists he is “really pleased” with his Chelsea squad but refused to rule out the possibility of further arrivals at Stamford Bridge this month.
The west Londoners have already moved quickly to secure the services of Newcastle United striker Demba Ba in a £7m deal, while offloading Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool for £12m.
Chelsea have been linked with a host of Europe’s top players in recent weeks, including the likes of Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao and Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian.
Also understood to be on the Blues’ radar is Brazilian striker Taison – but Benítez refused to be drawn on any transfer speculation at a news conference on Tuesday.
“I am really pleased with my squad, and with my players, they are doing well and hopefully can improve,” said the Chelsea interim boss.
“It’s January and it’s normal that there are a lot of names in the press. If we have to do something we will do it, but I respect my own players and trust them.”
Looking ahead to Wednesday’s Capital One Cup semi-final first leg against Swansea City, Benítez added: “We want to win every game, we know it’s a semi-final and we will try to be in the final.
“We have a lot of respect for Swansea, they are a good team and they are doing well. It could be an interesting game for the fans.”
