Chelsea transfers: Rafael Benítez coy on Frank Lampard future
Chelsea transfers: Rafael Benítez refuses to confirm whether Frank Lampard is set to be offered a new deal at Stamford Bridge

Rafael Benítez remained coy when quizzed over the future of Frank Lampard as the Chelsea midfielder continues to be linked with a Stamford Bridge exit.
Lampard’s current Chelsea deal is set to expire in the summer and the 34-year-old recently revealed that there has been no offer of a new contract from the Champions League holders.
The England international has been linked with a move to the MLS, as well as a switch across London to struggling Queens Park Rangers, in recent weeks.
But Benítez refused to give anything away over Lampard’s future ahead of Chelsea’s Capital One Cup clash at Leeds on Wednesday.
“The future of players is always the same,” Benítez told a news conference. “I can’t say too much. He is fully committed in every training session and every game.
“He is an important player for us but I can’t say too much about how he feels [regarding his future]. I’m happy with his attitude.”
Lampard last week said that he has not been in talks with Chelsea over the possibility of extending his current deal.
“There have been no talks about anything about an extension,” said Lampard.
“The ball is in Chelsea’s court. I’m a Chelsea player, as simple as that. I’ve had a great, great time here.
“Maybe things don’t last forever. Although I want it to last forever, you have to be big enough to know what it is.”
