Chelsea transfers: Wolfsburg still keen on Kevin De Bruyne
Chelsea transfers: Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs says the German club are still interested in Kevin De Bruyne
Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs has revealed that the German club are still looking into the possibility of signing Kevin De Bruyne from Chelsea.
De Bruyne’s future has been a source of speculation in recent weeks after the Belgium international fell out of favour under Blues boss Jose Mourinho.
The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan to Werder Bremen, has made just three Premier League appearances so far this term – although he is expected to feature against Arsenal in the League Cup on Tuesday night.
And Allofs says that Wolfburg would be interested in prising the midfielder away from Stamford Bridge should he become available.
“We want to do reasonable transfers, just like with Luiz Gustavo,” Allofs told Bild.
“That was exceptional in terms of transfer fee and dimension. We want to continue a selective reinforcement of our squad. Not in heave-ho style”
“At Werder, I have seen just how good De Bruyne is. If such players are possible, you of course think about them.
“But we should not raise the hopes of our fans. In the end they comment: ‘Once again, you failed to sign him’.”
