Eden Hazard states his prediction for Chelsea v Barcelona
Eden Hazard is hoping that Chelsea will be able to knock Barcelona out of the Champions League in the new year
Eden Hazard has admitted that he is looking forward to Chelsea’s crunch Champions League clash against Barcelona next year – but admits that it will be a stern test of the Blues’ European credentials.
The west London side were pitted against the Spanish champions after the Blues were made to pay for finishing as runners-up in their group.
Chelsea will take on Barcelona over two legs, starting in February, as they bid to try and book their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Hazard is hoping to help Chelsea win their first Champions League trophy since he joined the club back in the summer of 2012.
But the Belgian playmaker has admitted that the Blues are facing a serious test against the La Liga giants in the new year.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Hazard said: “Every year I try to do the best. I want to be the best, and to play with the best team, so when the New Year is coming, it’s my resolution to be the best and win trophies. That’s part of my job.
“We are playing well for now. I want to keep going, to win trophies. The World Cup with Belgium is something big, but also the Champions League with Chelsea.
“I want to go through, I know it’s not easy because now we have Barcelona.
“So we will see. I just want to enjoy like I did this year, and try to give happiness to the fans.”
Hazard will be expecting to feature for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action on Boxing Day with a crunch home clash against Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues then take on Stoke at home on 30 December in their final game of 2017 as they bid to try and end the year on a positive note.
