Michael Owen is backing Chelsea to return to winning ways in the Premier League by beating Watford on Saturday lunchtime at Stamford Bridge.

It has been a difficult few weeks for Antonio Conte’s men, with the Blues having lost their last two games in the top flight to leave them nine points behind leaders Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.

Chelsea were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw by Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday night and they will be desperate to return to winning ways in front of their home fans on Saturday.

Watford head into the game fresh from their impressive 2-1 comeback win over Arsenal last weekend.

Former England star Owen is tipping the Blues to claim all three points against Watford, but warned Chelsea that it won’t be an easy game.

Writing in his blog for BetVictor, Owen said: “Watford continue to be good value for both me and this column’s readers this season and were brilliant in their 2-1 defeat of Arsenal at Vicarage Road.

“I remain adamant that Hornets boss Marco Silva is destined for one of the top jobs in Europe and expect his side to give Chelsea a game at The Bridge.

“Nevertheless, I expect the Blues to come out on top but not without a scare in the process.”

Chelsea are aiming to retain their Premier League title this season after winning the trophy in Antonio Conte’s first campaign in charge last term.

Indeed, the Blues have won the title in two of the last three seasons, but they did not have the distraction of European football last term.
