Chelsea’s Fernando Torres: I’m getting back to my best
Fernando Torres believes he is finally starting to rediscover some of his top form following a disappointing start at Chelsea
Fernando Torres believes he is finally starting to rediscover some of his top form following a disappointing start to his Chelsea career.
The 29-year-old striker has failed to find consistent goal-scoring form since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Liverpool in January 2011 for £50m.
Torres did show improvement towards the end of last season and managed to score 22 goals in all competitions for the Blues last term.
And the Spain international feels that he is gradually “getting back to normal” following a difficult start to his career in west London.
“In the end I think it is people who remember my first year at Chelsea, which was not good, rather than the current situation,” Torres told Radio Marca.
“I am happy with how I’m playing even though I am very demanding. Things are getting back to normal for me.
“I feel great, physically good, despite the season being a long one. I feel very comfortable, strong and quick.”
Torres, who is currently on international duty at the Confederations Cup, has scored 36 goals in 104 games for Spain.
The striker scored 65 goals in 102 Premier League for Liverpool before completing a controversial move to Chelsea in January 2011.
