Chelsea’s Gary Cahill proud of Blues’ defensive record
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill believes the Blues should be proud of their defensive record this season

Gary Cahill believes Chelsea should be proud of their defensive record this season despite a minor blip.
The Blues are currently third in the Premier League table and boast the joint-best defensive record in the English top flight after conceding 19 goals in 21 games.

In early December, Chelsea’s back four appeared to be wobbling after a 4-3 victory over Sunderland was followed by a 3-2 loss to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.
However, Cahill, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Bolton in 2012, reckons the west London side should be proud of their defence after three successive clean sheets on the road.
“I think we’ve done well most of the season apart from the blip,” Cahill told Chelsea TV.
“We played Stoke and Sunderland where we conceded more than we would have liked and people thought the wheels had come off.
“But if you look at the clean sheets we’ve kept it’s something to be proud of as a team.
“Someone said it’s three clean sheets in a row away for the first time in five years and that’s also something to be proud of.”
