Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho explains Oscar absence for Sunderland clash
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho explains why Oscar won't be in his matchday squad to face Sunderland on Wednesday night

Jose Mourinho has lifted the lid on why midfielder Oscar will sit out Chelsea’s clash against Sunderland on Wednesday.
The Brazil international has been the west London side’s standout performer in the opening months of the season, scoring five goals in 13 Premier League appearances.
There are many matches in December and to play him tomorrow could make the injury worse

However, the 22-year-old is currently nursing an ankle injury which forced him off in the 42nd minute of Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
And Mourinho believes with the wealth of attacking midfielders at his disposal, it would be folly to risk the South American against the Black Cats.
“[His injury is] not serious but he is not selected for the moment. There are many matches in December and to play him tomorrow could make the injury worse,” Mourinho said.
“We have other solutions. It is an area where we are full of solutions – people with quality and desire to play.
“So we decided not to force him and let him be ready for Saturday’s match.”
