Andre Villas-Boas insists Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has nothing to prove ahead of the Portuguese pair’s face-off at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

The 35-year-old is set to take on the challenge of beating a Mourinho side for the first time since leaving the Portuguese coach’s staff at Inter Milan in 2009.

The Blues boss has tasted plenty of success at former clubs Porto, Inter and Real Madrid, as well as winning two Premier League titles in his first reign in west London.

Meanwhile, Villas-Boas guided Porto to the quadruple in 2011 before taking charge of Spurs over 14 months ago following Harry Redknapp’s dismissal.

And ahead of the London derby between Chelsea and Spurs, Villas-Boas, who spent nine months as Blues manager before being sacked in 2012, rubbished the suggestion he and Mourinho have points to prove.

“I think there is nothing to prove. Jose’s career speaks for itself,” Villas-Boas said.

“I’m very proud what I’ve done so far and achieved, and the day I quit, I hope to continue to look at it in the same way.”

Villas-Boas added he is satisfied with his decision to reject Paris Saint-Germain this summer after the Ligue 1 champions approached the young boss to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

“I was pleased with the decision at the time,” he added.

“Now, we’re just riding with the momentum and the momentum can change very, very quickly. The decision I was happy to take at that time and there is nothing more to do with it.”
