Christian Eriksen has his sights set on a Premier League title challenge with Tottenham after joining from Ajax this summer.

The Denmark international completed an £11.5m move to White Hart Lane at the end of the transfer window to become one of seven new recruits to move to the club.

Eriksen had been heavily linked with a number of Premier League sides before opting to join Spurs, with Manchester City keen to lure the playmaker to the Etihad Stadium last summer.

But the 21-year-old is pleased with his decision to join the north Londoners and believes Spurs can challenge for the title in the coming seasons.

“It took me a while to get here [to the Premier League] because I said no a few times,” Eriksen said ahead of Spurs’ trip to Cardiff on Sunday.

“Last summer, City really wanted to try to sign me but it didn’t feel right for me.

“I didn’t feel ready for a league like the Premier League and now it looks like I moved at the right time. Maybe I wouldn’t have played at City.

“A lot of players moved from Ajax in the last year and it gave me responsibility and made me grow. It made me better.

“I’m here to try to win the title, everybody wants that. The most important thing is to make the Champions League next year and once you are in the top four you can start looking for first place.”
