Jose Mourinho may have taken the reigns at Real Madrid less than six months ago but Cristiano Ronaldo believes the Portuguese coach has already been instrumental in helping him rediscover his top form.

Ronaldo, who scored 33 goals for Los Blancos during his debut season, has already fired in 13 this term. And the 25-year-old winger says the prolific manner in which he has started the season is down to a number of factors – including the arrival of the self-proclaimed Special One.

“I’m playing well because I’m in a good moment, because Jose [Mourinho] is here, because I am a father now,” said Ronaldo. “Everything has worked together so I want to carry on like this until the end of the season.

“It’s fantastic to work with Jose. He is an experienced manager. The titles [he has won] speak for themselves. He doesn’t do anything special, he is a discipline coach and he pays attention to all the details. It’s amazing, I’m very much enjoying working with him.”

Ronaldo, who spent six seasons at Manchester United before securing his £80m move to the Bernabeu last year, regards Sir Alex Ferguson and Mourinho as the world’s top managers and says he would never rule out a move back to England.

“Both are experienced but Jose is younger than Ferguson,” he continued. “Sir Alex Ferguson is like a second father for me. He helped me a lot during the six years I was in Manchester, he taught me many things.

“And Jose is the third because he is helping me a lot in this moment and I have a good relationship with him.”

He added: “To be honest I miss the Premier League a lot. Of course I have good memories about Manchester, I have good friends there and I miss them a lot, so you never know.”
