Cristiano Ronaldo wanted Man United return this summer – report
Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to leave Real Madrid and re-join Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to reports

Cristiano Ronaldo was keen on a return to Manchester United this summer but a deal fell through because of Real Madrid, according to reports in the British media.
The Sunday Times is reporting that Ronaldo was open to re-joining the Red Devils from Real Madrid and that the Spanish club were open to selling the Portugal captain back to the Premier League club.
The report claims that Ronaldo expressed a desire to return to Manchester United after a tax fraud case was opened against him in Spain.
A move for Ronaldo to re-join Manchester United eventually failed to materialise and he ended up staying at Real Madrid beyond the summer transfer window.
The same story says that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was open to selling Ronaldo because he was confident of signing replacement target Kylian Mbappe from Monaco.
However, Mbappe ended up signing for Paris Saint-Germain in a loan deal which will become permanent next summer.
And Perez would not give the green light for Ronaldo to move back to Manchester United before a deal to sign Mbappe was approved, says the report.
Manchester United ended up signing Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.
