Juan Mata states his prediction for CSKA Moscow v Man United
The Manchester United midfielder has some words of advice for his Red Devils team-mates ahead of their trip to CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night
Juan Mata has warned his Manchester United team-mates to expect a tough clash against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils continued their unbeaten start to the 2017-18 season with a close-fought 1-0 win at Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United have won five of their six Premier League games so far this term to maintain parity with Manchester City at the top of the table.
Jose Mourinho’s side were 3-0 winners against Swiss side Basel in their Champions League opener at Old Trafford earlier this month.
Goals from Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford sealed a comfortable victory to secure top spot in Group A ahead of CSKA Moscow.
The Russian side pulled off a surprise in their opening fixture with a 2-1 win against Portuguese giants Benfica.
Mata was part of the Chelsea side that won the Champions League title under Roberto di Matteo in 2012 thanks to a penalty shootout victory over Bayern Munich.
And the Spanish midfielder has some words of advice for his Manchester United team-mates ahead of their long trip to Moscow.
“CSKA Moscow is a classic in European football,” Mata wrote on his personal blog.
“They won all their games in the two previous ties before the group stage, which they have started with an extraordinary victory in Lisbon.
“Needless to say, it’s going to be a very difficult game, as they all are in the Champions League anyway.
“We know how excited you are about this competition and we will give everything we have to live up to your expectations.”
Manchester United are looking to win the Champions League title for the first time in 2008.
