Danny Welbeck sure of Arsenal title challenge
Danny Welbeck is sure that Arsenal will be able to challenge for the Premier League title next season
Danny Welbeck has backed Arsenal to challenge for the Premier League title next season during his second campaign at the north London club.
The Gunners were made to pay for a slow start to the campaign last term as they ended up third in the table behind Manchester City and champions Chelsea.
However, Arsene Wenger’s men managed to continue their trophy-winning run as they successfully defended their FA Cup title with a 4-0 final win over Aston Villa at Wembley last month.
And Welbeck is sure that Arsenal will be one of the main contenders for the top-flight crown next season as the Gunners look to improve their league form.
Welbeck told Arsenal’s website: “We definitely want to push on as a club.
With the players we’ve got there is no reason why we should not be up there challenging for the Premier League – it is something which is within our ambitions as a team.
“Our slow start at the beginning of last season cost us in May, and when we look back on the points we should have got, then we would have been right up there.”
Welbeck enjoyed a relatively successful first season at Arsenal after joining the club from Manchester United last summer. He scored eight goals and made eight assists for Wenger’s men in all competitions, including a hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Galatasaray in October.
