David Luiz targets Premier League title after Chelsea’s final defeat
David Luiz wants to see Chelsea reignite their Premier League title challenge after the Blues lost the Fifa Club World Cup final

David Luiz could not hide his disappointment at Chelsea’s defeat by Corinthians in the Fifa Club World Cup final but insists the Blues must now focus on winning the Premier League.
Sunday’s 1-0 loss to the Brazilian champions compounded a miserable few weeks for Rafael Benítez’s men, who has watched his side crash out of the Champions League and fall 13 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United in the title race.
The final in Yokohama was Chelsea’s third spurned opportunity to win silverware this term, with the west Londoners missing out on the Community Shield and the Uefa Super Cup earlier in the season.
But Brazilian centre-half Luiz insists Chelsea have no choice but to turn their attentions back to challenging for the English crown.
“I am disappointed but I need to look to the future because I have many games ahead,” said Luiz.
“I play for a big club and I need to win and I need to win big titles, so Chelsea must now try to win the Premier League.”
Luiz added: “I am sad because I said before the game this is one competition I really wanted to win, but I lost a final and now I am going to look for another title in my life.”
