David Moyes: I knew Man United job would be hard but not THIS hard
David Moyes takes full responsibility for Manchester United's poor form after derby defeat by City
David Moyes has taken full responsibility for Manchester United’s poor form after Tuesday’s 3-0 derby defeat by Manchester City.
Goals from Edin Dzeko and Yaya Toure wrapped up a comfortable win for United’s local rivals at Old Trafford as Moyes’ men slumped to their 10th league defeat of the season.
I thought it would be a tough year but I hoped it would be more competitive
It has been far from the perfect start for Moyes since succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford in the summer, with United currently down in seventh place in the Premier League table.
But Moyes was ready to take the blame for his side’s poor form after another disappointing result for the Red Devils.
“I am the one who picks the team,” Moyes said. “I take responsibility and always will do. It is disappointing.
“I thought it would be a tough year but I hoped it would be more competitive.
“Everybody knows this is a job that is going to take a little bit of time to get the way we would like but that is the job.
“Other clubs have had to do rebuilding jobs – we hope it won’t take as long as some others but we have a period of time to get to that level.
“There are a lot of really good players in the squad, a lot of internationals, who, on their day, can be a match for most players.”
