Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has suggested he may not end his career at Stamford Bridge.

The 32-year-old forward looked set to see out the remainder of his career with the reigning Premier League and FA Cup champions, but the Ivory Coast international has hinted he may move elsewhere before retiring.

“When I signed a new contract at Chelsea, I always said I wanted to finish my career here,” said Drogba. “But I am well placed to say that anything can happen.

“When I was at Marseille I said I would finish my career there but, one week later, everything changed.”

Drogba joined Chelsea from Marseille in 2004 for £24 million and has made 172 league appearances, scoring an impressive 89 goals. However, the striker has yet to enjoy Champions League glory with the London outfit.

Chelsea meet Drogba’s former employers this Tuesday in the group stages of Europe’s elite competition, however he will miss the opportunity to face his old club at Stamford Bridge due to a suspension picked up last season.

He does, however, hope to be available for trip to the Stade Velodrone for the Blues’ Group F clash against the French champions in December.

“I hope I don’t miss the return match as the Velodrome has an exceptional atmosphere,” he said. “I did not think I would miss this game, but that is a lesson in life.

“I have already warned my team-mates about the Stade Velodrone, I said forget about Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford, St James’ Park – the Velodrome is unique.”
