Dirk Kuyt: Why Memphis Depay should join Liverpool ahead of Man United
Dirk Kuyt says Memphis Depay should join Liverpool ahead of Manchester United to guarantee regular playing time

Dirk Kuyt has urged Memphis Depay to join Liverpool ahead of Manchester United this summer.
The Netherlands international has been heavily linked with a move away from PSV Eindhoven in recent weeks and the 21-year-old has been touted as a potential target for Louis van Gaal’s United side.
However, Liverpool are also understood to be keen on luring Depay to the Premier League and look set to battle United for the winger’s signature.
Now, former Liverpool striker Kuyt has told Depay, who has also been linked with Tottenham, to strongly consider a move to Anfield at the end of the season.
“I look through red glasses, because I’ve played six years for Liverpool. Only when Memphis does that, he will realise how big Liverpool are,” Kuyt told De Telegraaf.
“Of course it would be an advantage at Manchester United because he knows the manager.
“On the other hand it is important at his age that he plays every week. That’s the only way he can develop.”
Liverpool or United are likely to have to pay around £25m to sign the 21-year-old, who made his international debut under Red Devils boss Van Gaal for Holland two years ago.
Van Gaal is familiar with Depay and inclued him in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad in Brazil last summer.
