Jamie Carragher lavished praise on Anthony Martial for his brilliant goal in Manchester United’s 2-0 win at Everton in the Premier League on Monday night.

After a goalless first half at Goodison Park, Martial curled home a brilliant effort in the 57th minute after being found by Paul Pogba’s pass.

Jesse Lingard then made it 2-0 with a fine strike of his own in the 81st minute to wrap up the three points for Jose Mourinho’s men.

Martial was in good form for the Red Devils and he finished in style after a sweeping counter-attack from Jose Mourinho’s men.

And former Liverpool FC star Carragher was clearly impressed by what he saw from Martial on Merseyside on Monday.

Speaking during Sky Sports’ coverage of the game, Carragher said: “We’ve spoken about how Manchester United could score goals and we mentioned one of them could be on the counter-attack.

“Wayne Rooney loses possession, Paul Pogba on that left side again with a lovely weighted pass to Martial.

“Martial just uses Ashley Williams and he bends it round into that far top corner.

“What a lovely touch and finish. It’s four goals in six for Martial against Everton.”

The win left Manchester United in second place in the Premier League table and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City.

The Red Devils will be back in FA Cup third-round action on Friday night with a clash against Derby County at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, all eyes will be on Old Trafford during the January transfer window as Jose Mourinho considers bolstering his squad in the mid-season period.

Mourinho has been tasked with steering Manchester United to another top-four finish in the Premier League after they ended up in sixth place in the top flight last term, his first campaign in charge.
