Everton 2 West Ham 0: Moyes thrilled to end Toffees reign with win
Everton 2 West Ham 0: David Moyes says he is thrilled to end his 11-year Toffees reign with a victory at Goodison Park
David Moyes admitted he was thrilled to end his Everton reign with a victory after Kevin Mirallas scored a brace against West Ham United.
The Belgian opened the scoring in the sixth minute at Goodison Park as he swept a finish past Jussi Jääskeläinen following an impressive move by the home side.
Mirallas went on to net his ninth Premier League goal in his debut campaign in England in the second half to secure three points and a sixth-place finish.
And Moyes, who took over in 2002, said he was delighted to finish his reign at Goodison Park in style.
“There’s always a worry when you’re joining another club, but Everton fans were magnificent for me today,” Moyes told BBC Sport.
“David Unsworth scored my first goal at Goodison 11 years ago after about 25 seconds and I’m delighted I finished it off here with a win. I thank all the players who have worked with me.
“Whoever comes in is going to have joy working with the current set of players. I’ve got another week and I’m going to make sure I’m at it with the players because we want a result at Chelsea.
“They know what to expect. The victory was deserved. We’re going to finish in a good league position and I’m happy with that.
“I haven’t recommended anyone for the job to the chairman. If he asks me for an opinion then I’ll give it to him.”
