Everton 2 West Ham 0: Only one of my players did their job – Allardyce
Everton 2 West Ham 0: Sam Allardyce blasts his players' below-par display after Hammers are beaten at Goodison
Sam Allardyce blasted his players’ below-par display after West Ham were beaten by Everton as David Moyes said farewell to Goodison Park.
The home side took the lead in the sixth minute when Kevin Mirallas fired home from just outside the penalty area.
The Belgian then doubled Everton’s lead with a long-range strike into the top-left corner on the hour-mark to wrap up a 2-0 win for the Toffees in Moyes’ final home game in charge before taking the reins at Manchester United in the summer.
Allardyce, whose side remain in 10th place in the Premier League table, was left fuming by his side’s disappointing display and claimed that only goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen “did their job”.
“I’m bitterly disappointed,” said Allardyce, who has agreed a new two-year deal at Upton Park.
“It’s always difficult to play at Goodison Park and David Moyes’s record speaks for itself.
“I warned the players but they chose to take no notice of me. It left us with a bad performance.
“There was only one man who did their job in my team and that was goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.”
West Ham host Reading at Upton Park in their final Premier League game of the season next Sunday.
