Everton 3 Arsenal 0: We can beat Gunners to fourth, declares Naismith
Everton 3 Arsenal 0: Steven Naismith insists that the Toffees have what it takes to pip Gunners to fourth place
Steven Naismith insisted that Everton have what it takes to pip Arsenal to qualification for next season’s Champions League after Sunday’s comprehensive victory over the Gunners.
Naismith slotted in a 14th-minute opener at Goodison Park after goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny saved Romelu Lukaku’s shot, before the Belgium striker added a second 20 minutes later.

Everton’s sixth straight league win was then secured when their former midfielder Mikel Arteta scored an own goal, as the Toffees moved to within one point of the fourth-placed Gunners with a game in hand.
“It would mean everything [to finish in the top four] but we have believed from the start of the season and we have shown that in these recent performances,” said Naismith.
“We played very well and didn’t let them settle on the ball and keep possession. We knew it would be a battle for possession, it started from the back and Gareth Barry and James McCarthy were excellent in midfield.”
Meanwhile, Toffees goalkeeper Tim Howard hailed an outstanding display from Roberto Martinez’s side.
“It was one of the signature performances since I have been here at the club,” said Howaard.
“The fans have waited all season for a blockbuster performance and this was the one. We would like to believe we can finish in the top four – we have got to believe that we can.”
