Felix Magath has one of the best CVs in the Premier League, according to Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

The German manager took over the reins at Fulham earlier this month, with Rene Meulensteen, Ray Wilkins and Alan Curbishley all shown the door at Craven Cottage.

Magath picked up a point as Fulham drew 1-1 with West Bromwich Albion in his first game as a Premier League manager after leading Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg to Bundesliga titles.

And Blues boss Mourinho spoke of his respect for the experienced 60-year-old manager ahead of Chelsea’s west London derby against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

“His CV is one of the best CVs of the managers we have in the Premier League,” Mourinho told his pre-match media conference.

“So I try to be pragmatic – and being pragmatic is to read the CV – and the CV is very good.

“He has a CV, a reputation and a past and I respect that.”

Magath arrived in the Premier League with a reputation for working his squad hard after stories emerged from his spells in charge of Bayern, Schalke and Wolfsburg.

However, Mourinho conceded that he knew little about Magath’s methods, adding that he doesn’t know the European Cup winner personally but has great respect for the Fulham boss.

“I don’t know his training methods. I just know his CV,” Mourinho added.

The Chelsea boss continued: “I don’t know of him personally. I know of him from what he was as a player and a coach.”
