Ferdinand, Materazzi & more: Twitter reacts as Tottenham thrash Inter
Rio Ferdinand and Marco Materazzi both tweet their thoughts after Tottenham Hotspur are emphatic 3-0 winners against Inter Milan

Tottenham Hotspur took a big step towards the Europa League quarter-finals with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Inter Milan at White Hart Lane.
Elsewhere, Newcastle United secured a credible goalless draw at Anzhi Makhachkala, while Steaua Bucharest were 1-0 winners against Chelsea in the Romanian capital.
Here is the best of the Twitter reaction, in chronological order, to another entertaining night of European football.
Newcastle defender Danny Simpson (@dannysimpson) is pleased to take a positive step towards the last eight: “Another good result and performance in Europe tonight! Always nice to get a clean sheet.. Get them back to St James’ Park and get into the quarters!”
Former Magpies midfielder Didi Hamann (@DietmarHamann) was impressed and reckons Alan Pardew should get a new deal – a 16-year contract perhaps: “Great result for the Toon …if they finish the job against Anzhi I think they can go all the way. About time to extend Pardew’s contract?”
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) is enjoying Bale’s purple patch: “Bale is having an average period at moment….needs a goal to get him out of it!! #GoalsGalore”
Former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer (@MCATEER4) points out all is right in the world: “Bale another goal. And Tiger five birdies in last seven holes. These two on fire – and reports say Torres has just smiled might be a fart.”
Ex-Leicester star Darren Eadie (@eadie11) is shocked by how poor Tottenham’s Italian visitors are: “Have Inter sent their reserves?? #COYS”
Reading striker Noel Hunt (@boyhunt) is delighted to see his new team-mate doing well: “Buzzing for Gylfi, really coming into his own now was a spurs player!!!”
Tottenham legend Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) tries to hide his colours: “I’m resisting, as best I can, to not tweet that Spurs are 2 up. Hate you to think I was in any way biased ; )”
Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) hopes to see a Premier League side win this competition: “Would love an English Europa League winner. Think it would change a few perceptions. Spurs/Steaua atmospheres both demand our Island takes it serious. Inter aren’t great but that’s no excuse, Spurs have torn them a new one.”
Ex-Norwich defender Iwan Roberts (@iwanwroberts) heaps praise on Inter’s own version of Ryan Giggs: “Javier Zanetti has played 1079 games in his career!”
England rugby legend Will Carling (@willcarling) can’t understand why Villas-Boas was sacked by Chelsea: “Obviously know v little about football, but can anyone explain to me how AVB seems to be doing such a great job at Spurs, but at Chelsea…?”
QPR defender Chris Samba (@cs4christsamba1) is left flabbergasted by Bale’s searing pace: “Bale just run past Kyle Walker like he was not there!”
Former Inter defender Marco Materazzi (@iomatrix23) wants to know how Bale moves so fast: “Does Bale have powered pedals?”
Finally, Notts County star David Cotterill (@cotterill_david) says this Inter side is a shadow of the club’s former great teams: “That’s the worse Inter Milan team I’ve ever seen but Spurs were brilliant! #europaleague”
