Fernandinho: Man City won’t let title slip away for a second time

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho promises the Citizens won't let the title slip away again

Fernandinho insists Manchester City won’t let the Premier League title slip away for a second time.

The Citizens are in control of their title destiny after capitalising on Liverpool’s loss to Chelsea and winning 2-0 at Crystal Palace last Sunday.

We are not depending on other teams. It only depends on us, and that has changed a lot

Pellegrini’s men will lift their second Premier League trophy if the Eastlands outfit win their remaining games, regardless of Liverpool’s results.

And Fernandinho, who moved to City from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer, insisted the Citizens are ready to seize their chance to lift the top-flight trophy.

“We are back with a big chance of being champions again,” Fernandinho is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“We are not depending on other teams. It only depends on us, and that has changed a lot.

“It gives you energy as mentality is 70 per cent of your body, and a result like that changes everything – your mind, your motivation, everything. When your head is good, your body is good as well.

“At that time of the Sunderland game, the most important thing was to win it not draw, but if you look at it now, maybe that point against them could make all the difference in future.”
