Fernando Torres’ season has been acceptable, insists Jose Mourinho
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho feels Fernando Torres has been unfortunate with injuries throughout the season

Jose Mourinho believes that Fernando Torres has enjoyed an “acceptable season” despite being hit by a series of injuries.
The 29-year-old striker has enjoyed purple patches throughout the campaign before suffering untimely injuries which have prevented the Spain international from building on his good performances.
“He is having good periods. He had two good periods before the injuries,” Mourinho said.
“But the good periods end with an injury. After the injury, [he had] more or less one month out. But he is having a very acceptable season. It is a pity that he had these two knee problems.”
Mourinho revealed that Torres asked to be substituted 15 minutes before the Chelsea boss eventually removed the striker during a 1-1 draw with Galatasaray in the first leg of the Champions League last 16.
“He was so tired [Wednesday]. I had to take him off because he asked [to be taken off],” Mourinho added.
“It wasn’t my decision. It was him that was asking to be changed. I kept him on the pitch 10 or 15 minutes longer than he was asking for.
“So if he was so tired, suppose now in training, I have to feel it, but I suppose he isn’t in the best condition.”
