France

Hugo Lloris The Tottenham goalkeeper was rarely threatened by Honduras. 6/10

Mathieu Debuchy The right-back played like a winger at times and provided plenty of service to the attackers. 7

Raphael Varane The young centre-half struggled early on, but worked his way into the game and wasn’t tested much in the second half. 7

Mamadou Sakho Similar to Varane, he looked shaky in the first half, but wasn’t put under much pressure for the rest of the game. 7

Patrice Evra He made himself available going forward, but left space in behind that will be exploited by good wingers. 6

Yohan Cabaye Made good use of the ball, threading passes to the front men and allowing them to create chances. 8

Paul Pogba The Juventus midfielder made plenty of running and was skillful as ever. The only negative is that he kicked out at Palacios and could have been sent off. 7

Blaise Matuidi Covered a lot of ground and worked hard in attack and defence. 8

Mathieu Valbuena (Man of the match) He was the creative hub of France’s play and the best player on the pitch. 8

Karim Benzema Was a consistent threat to the Honduras defence and scored two goals in the process. 8

Antoine Greizmann He didn’t do an awful lot for the team, but was helpful when called upon. 7

Substitutes

Rio Mavuba He was brought on to strengthen the midfield and did exactly that. 6

Moussa Sissoko He created a couple of opportunities and did little wrong in the centre of the park after replacing Pogba. 6

Olivier Giroud He wasn’t on the pitch for long enough to make an impact. 5

Honduras

Noel Valladares He made his presence known in the air and prevented France from scoring more, but could have stopped their second goal. 5

Emilio Izaguirre Made a few strong tackles and was in and out of the game for most of the second half. 5

Victor Bernardez He did very little wrong and made a few decent challenges, but his involvement was cut short when he was substituted at half time with an injury. 6

Barayan Beckeles He quickly imposed himself on the French and made some good tackles. 6

Maynor Figueroa The Hull City man was probably the best of the Honduran defenders as he worked hard prevent France creating chances. But he was undone in the second half by some clever attacking play. 6

Andy Najar The winger was unable to show his pace as France attacked and was substituted at half-time. 5

Luis Garrido Failed to make an impact on the game and picked up an unnecessary booking in the second half. 5

Wilson Palacios Let his team down by getting sent off and did little right before that. 3

Roger Espinoza The Wigan midfielder was unable to show his creative side when his team went down to ten men. 6

Carlo Costly Was left up front on his own and isolated for long periods in the second half as France piled on the pressure. 5

Jerry Bengtson Was substituted at half-time to make way for a more defensive style and his involvement was sporadic. 6

Substitutes

Jorge Claros He did very little when he came on for Najar just before the hour mark. 5

Bonieck Garcia Replaced Bernardez at half time and struggled to impact on the game as his team conceded two goals. 5

Osman Chavez He was largely ineffectual after coming on just after half time. 4
